4. THE SPRING WIND RETURNS
Many years ago, there was a very long, cold winter in Canada. A young boy wanted
to feel the warm spring
wind. He asked his animal friends, “Where is the spring wind?” Magpie said, “Bear stole the wind.” So the
boy said, “Let’s find it!” At night, they went to Bear’s den. He was sleeping. Weasel saw the wind in a bag.
Coyote dragged the bag out of the den. Then, Chicken opened the bag with his beak. Suddenly,
the warm
spring wind came out. It woke Bear up. He promised that he would never steal the wind again. Everybody
was happy to get spring back!

5. FANNY AND FELIX MENDELSSOHN
Are you close with your sister or brother? Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn were German musical geniuses.
They were also very close siblings. Fanny and Felix dreamed of becoming composers. However, their father
only wanted Felix to study music. Felix was sad because he knew Fanny was talented.
He told her, “Keep
writing songs.” They often played their songs together. In 1842, Felix met Queen Victoria from the United
Kingdom. She told him that she loved his song “Italien.” He said, “Actually, I didn’t write it. Fanny did.”
Finally, Fanny’s dream came true. She wrote over 400 songs. Together, Fanny and Felix
became great
composers.
