South America is a large and fascinating continent. And while many people think of South America for its
natural beauty, it is also
famous for its unique and diverse foods. Its many natural environments are what
provide these different foods. One of South America’s most famous foods is beef. It has great flavor, and it’s
not too expensive. This is because there is plenty of grassland to raise cattle. In fact, Brazil is the world’s
largest beef exporter. There are many dishes made with beef, such as
churrasco, or beef barbeque. Also,
South America is surrounded
by oceans, so people can enjoy a vast and varied number of seafood favorites,
such as
ceviche. In South America, the climate varies greatly from region to region.
So a wide range of fruits
and vegetables can grow. In the area where the climate is mild, corn grows. Corn is a key ingredient in many
South American dishes, such as
arepas and
pasteles.
In cold areas, people cultivate potatoes, another
important vegetable. Potatoes are usually served with main dishes.
In tropical areas, many tropical fruits grow,
such as coconuts, mangos,
pineapples, and papayas. These fruits are often used in desserts and salads. South
America produces and exports much food, thanks to its various natural environments. In fact, it is one of the
largest agricultural producers in the world. How about foods in your country? How are they related to your
country’s natural environments and climate?
