Italy , officially the Italian Republic, is a unitary parliamentary republic in Europe. Located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Italy shares open land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, San Marino and Vatican City. To the south, it consists of the entirety of the Italian Peninsula and the two biggest Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardinia, in addition to many smaller island.

With 61 million inhabitants, it is the 4th most populous EU member country. Italy's official language is Italian.

Italy is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. Every year millions of tourists visit this country to see its attractions. The capital of Italy is Rome and there are certainly many interesting sights in this city, including the Colloseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Trevi Fountains.

 However, lots of Italian sights are situated outside Rome. They are in Florence, Venice, Milan, Pompei and other cities. One of the most attractive cities in Italy is Venice. It’s a floating city, which is made of more than 100 small islands. These islands are separated by canals but linked by numerous bridges. 

Another symbol of Italy is the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It’s a high bell tower, which is one of the oldest constructions in the country. Ancient Roman ruins can be also found in Pompei, the city in southern Italy.

One of the most visited sights in Italy is St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican. Vatican is an unusual city. It’s the smallest city in the world which is situated within the city of Rome. St. Pete’s Basilica is the largest church in the world .

The list of Italian landmarks is endless but these are the most famous and visited ones of all. I like Italy, and of course one day I will go there, because I want to see this attraction myself want to see how Italian people live and want to taste their food.
