ABB TotalFlow Interface Reference EPDOC-X340-en-501A
Property
Description Diagnostic Address The valid address in the controller to read for the diagnostic scan. Character Timeout The maximum interval between receipts of characters (bytes). If this time is exceeded, the Toolkit assumes the incoming data stream was broken. The value must be between 1 and 60 seconds, with the default value being 2 seconds. Compressed Indicates whether compression is enabled. The default value is unselected. Time Synchronization Enable at If selected, time synchronization is enabled for the device. The default is not selected (disabled). Type the time (in 24–hour format: HH:SS ) at which synchronization will occur. The default value is midnight ( 00:00 ). Item Type The type of controller specified when this item was created. Last Modified The date and time the controller properties were modified. Last Downloaded The date and time the controller was last downloaded to the server. Item Number The unique item number currently assigned to this controller, in the format RTUnnnnn . You can change the item number if you need to match your current server database configuration. The number must be between 00001 and the maximum number of controllers allowed for your system. For more information about setting the maximum value, see the topic titled "Adjusting sizing of non-licensed items" in the Supplementary Installation Tasks Guide. Note that the maximum number of controllers that may be used in a system is defined in the Experion specification for that Experion release, This number is likely to be less than the maximum number that can be configured in the database as shown in "Adjusting sizing of non-licensed items." About time synchronization on ABB Totalflow controllers Time synchronization is critical when you use EFM. Some controllers have their own GPS-based time source or use NTP over TCP/IP to Chapter 2 - ABB Totalflow channel and controller reference synchronize their time, in which case you do not need to synchronize using the ABB Totalflow interface. Experion performs time synchronization with ABB Totalflow controllers at the time specified in the controller settings. Optimizing ABB Totalflow scanning performance An ABB Totalflow scan packet: n Can contain multiple register requests. Each register request is a combination of Application | Table | Index | Range. n Must have addresses with the same scan period, unless dynamic scanning is enabled. The Totalflow protocol is able to request blocks of parameters, so keeping indexes in the same table that are adjacent to each other on the same scan period will help reduce the number of requests. Alternatively, you can enable Dynamic Scanning on the controller and Experion will optimize the scanning. Two types of scan packet are built for ABB Totalflow: n Hardware Diagnostic . One scan per controller at a defined regular interval (the default is 60 seconds) to verify communications integrity with the controller. This scan packet is automatically created to scan the diagnostic address configured for the controller. n Periodic Data Acquisition . A defined regular interval in which the server database acquires information from the addressed registers in the controller and processes the values as point parameters. You need to define the scan period for each point parameter source address. The scan period should reflect both the rate at which the value held in memory changes and its importance to the process (critical or non-critical). There is one periodic data acquisition scan per scan packet. Configuring RTU credentials for an ABB Totalflow controller rtucredentials is a command line utility that enables you to provide credentials for the ABB Totalflow controller. 22 Chapter 2 - ABB Totalflow channel and controller reference 23 If you do not enter your credentials, connection to the controller and/or channel cannot be guaranteed meaning that no data will be able to be scanned from the device. To configure RTU credentials for an ABB Totalflow controller 1. On the primary server, open a Command Prompt window. 2. Type rtucredentials to start the RTU Credentials utility. 3. Type the number of the first controller to be configured For example, 25 for controller 25 . 4. Type the number of the last controller to be configured For example, 25 for controller 25 . The message Setting credentials for Controller n appears, where n is the controller number, or numbers, specified. 5. Type your 4–digit security code when prompted, and then press Enter . The message Completed processing credentials for Controller n appears, where n is the controller number, or numbers, specified.
