About AMCMAA American Mathematics CompetitionsThe MAA’s American Mathematics Competitions (MAA AMC) program leads the nation in strengthening the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem-solvers. Through classroom resources and friendly competition, the MAA AMC program helps America’s educators identify talent and foster a love of mathematics. The MAA AMC program positively impacts the analytical skills needed for future careers in an innovative society. The American Mathematics Competitions are a series of examinations and curriculum materials that build problem-solving skills and mathematical knowledge in middle and high school students. American Mathematics Competition 8 (AMC 8): AMC's middle school level competition* American Mathematics Competition 10/12 (AMC 10/12): AMC's high school level competition* American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME): AMC’s invitational competition for high scoring AMC 10/12 participants United States of America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) and United States of America Junior Mathematical Olympiad (USAJMO): AMC’s top invitational competition for high scoring AIME participants The Putnam Competition: An annual mathematics competition for undergraduate college students in the United States and Canada *These competitions are available in French, Spanish, large print, and braille. AMC HistoryIn 1950, the first Mathematical Contest, sponsored by the New York Metropolitan Section of the Mathematics Association of America (MAA), took place. It was given in approximately 200 schools to around 6,000 students in the New York area only. Today, the competition has grown to over 300,000 students participating annually, in over 6,000 schools. How to Register for the AMC OnlineWelcome to the AMC Online!We hope you find the experience approachable and convenient. The AMC is partnering with the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) to support the administration of our the 2020-2021 cycle. The problems selected for the in-person AMC will be identical to the online competition questions powered by AoPS. Below are simple steps to guide Competition Managers and participants through online registration. CLICK HERE FOR THE AMC FAQ & POLICIES GUIDECompetition Managers Visit amc-reg.maa.org Click “Register” next to a competition name to begin. Select online or print administration. Continue selections to complete the registration form. To add additional competitions in the cart, please follow the prompts on the “Add to Cart” page. Note: Competition Managers may add additional competitions in different administration formats (ex. AMC 8 online administration and AMC 10/12 print administration). Only one type of administration is allowed for each competition. Competition Managers will receive an AoPS registration email outline steps to set-up their online accounts to access participant Invitation links. Registered Competition Managers must send their participating students the invitation links found in the online Competition Manager Portal. The student invite links will allow students to access the online AMC platform powered by AoPS. View the CM Registration Guide here ParticipantsAfter registering for the competition, your Competition Manager will send you an invite link to access the online AMC platform powered by AoPS. Click the link in the invitation email to begin registration. Participants will need an AoPS account to register for the contest. participants may use an existing AoPS account or create a restricted AoPS account. Registration and the practice exam will open in early October to familiarize participants with the AoPS testing software, ensuring less troubleshooting on competition day. The AMC online Contest Platform powered by AoPS supports recent versions of the main modern web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge) and operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Chrome OS, and Android).
