According to the Aristotle’s “Golden Mean” theory virtue is an acting without extremes or deficiency of vices in certain situation and feelings. In our “Young woman” case, although how much hatred I would feel, behaving though prudence and temperance would create the most beneficial output. Although his words were worthy to insult him, my telos is helping other myriad Jewish people to escape and avoid German authorities by working in “underground” system. On the other hand, acting through my triggered emotions and disclosing my religion by my insulting words against his boast would make me to be arrested and it might lead me to detect other followers of Judaism by tortured questioning me.
In this case, I am a young lady, and he is my boss in the bookstore and we are having a small talk. After he brags about his dirty boast, I would pretend him as the hero of the nation by his actions and try to get more information about his activities outside his occupation as a sign of my interest. Mainly because of my young age and complimenting him would create him some interest in me and it would be the foundation of the justice which is the assassination for his past actions. Within a couple of hours, I would sincerely talk about the place I like the most which is so quiet and the periphery of the city and persuade him to talk about his “heroic actions” or about him at particular time as inviting him to a date. After this workday, I would immediately inform about this person to my congregations and prepare 2 strong men going there to murder him. After assassination would be done there will be justice again, and vanishing corpse and all the evidence would provide more security to me and others. Mainly because, although there is such German law against Jewish people, this informant person is more dangerous to me and my congregations. That is why, according to the utilitarianism we would provide great happiness for the greater amount of the people that is my religious friends by doing so.
In the first case, prudence of my behavior which is the virtuous disposition would make the situation flow more smoother, which is the virtuous action, and planning and murdering the informant prevent so many people to be tortured and killed in Nazi camps, and I would do it according to the act utilitarianism.
