Intermediate Second edition Student’s Book.

If you want a lead-in …

If you want an alternative lead-in you could ask students 

if they have any relatives or friends living abroad (if your 

students are not studying in their home countries about 

other family members who have left their home country). 

Ask the students to tell the class where they live and how 

long they’ve been there. If you have a map of the world, or 

can project a map of the world on your board, it might be 

interesting to ask the students to come up and show where 

their friends and relatives live. 

This activity would then lead into exercise 1 in the 

Speaking section.
