Recommendations:
• Through Educational centers “O’quv markazlarlar” which function as private businesses in all provinces. • These Educational centers could be partnered as training bases for introducing certified picking and packing training courses according to the Global G.A.P., and other standards. The educational centers could be linked with potential employers (exporters). Women with received certificates could be hired individually or in groups for performing pruning, picking and packing and other services related to horticulture industry. 8 ADB Country gender Assessment 2014 ` USAID.GOV AVC UZBEKISTAN FY2019 QUARTER 3 REPORT | 20 • Together with the partnering institutes to produce video materials with the participation of male and female successful farmers, agronomists and post-harvest service representatives and make those accessible for distribution among male and female large, medium and small scale horticulture value chain beneficiaries. • To raise awareness of agrofirms (and potential logistic centers) about female producers and post- harvesters, so that when and any inputs or supply related opportunities open they are also informed. • Green agriculture can be considered as a means for improving the situation of women and the value chain. Considering the demand for organic and natural products and building capacity to raise awareness, knowledge, entrepreneurial skills of women in this specific area could help to reframing the traditional role of rural women as a household caretaker to one as caretaker of business and the environment: becoming an environmental manager. • Organic or fair trade label could increase the visibility of women producers, who gain income from the premium provided by the additional price earned through the seal. The fact that the product was produced by women adds to its value. These economic benefits could become motivating force for both men and women producers.
