CONCLUSION
It must be stressed that during many centuries Oriental poetry played an important role in world literature. In XX century the interest in Oriental poetry increased much. Therefore, today analyzing the translations of works of Oriental poets into western languages, particularly into English is becoming very important. Because the meaning, structure and objects of literary works differ from each other. Translating literary works is, perhaps, always more difficult than translating other types of text because literary works have specific values called the aesthetic and expressive values. The aesthetic function of the work shall emphasize the beauty of the words, figurative language, metaphors, etc. While the expressive functions shall put forwards the writer's thought (or process of thought), emotion, etc. And the translator should try, at his best, to transfer these specific values into the target language. As one genre of literature, poetry has something special compared to the others. In a poem, the beauty is not only achieved with the choice of words and figurative language like in novels and short stories, but also with the creation of rhythm, rhyme, meter, and specific expressions and structures that may not conform to the ones of the daily language. In short, the translation of poetry needs 'something more' than translating other genres of literature. As our Prezident Islam Karimov states ―What I ask myself is this: Navoi is no less great, no less immortal and no less respected around the world, but do we, the people, the successors of Navoi, who is a great son of the Uzbek people, do we know our great poet which should be studied every day, studied profoundly, studied so that this heritage helps us in our every day life to chose the correct path. I am confident that if every young man who embarks upon life knows by heart most of the works by Navoi or knows his hero, Farkhod, the great legendary figure who has made a huge impact on the perception of the world and on the formation of the characters of millions and millions of young people, if we have all studied 99 the works of Navoi such as Farkhod and Shirin, Layli and Majnun and Saddi Iskandari and others - I am confident that those young people who have studied Navoi profoundly would never set out on a bad path or stumble somehow or go against some moral values. Unfortunately we sometimes act against those moral values. We see this from examples amongst our young people. This is our fault, our misfortune. If, I repeat, if we studied Navoi in schools profoundly, I am confident, this would be a great support or, if you like, our most specific guide. And there would not be any need to speak very much. Simply one should learn Navoi so as not to do anything one might regret. We gave the name of our great ancestor to one of the regions of country, to the library, theatres, several streets and squares. At the same time poet‘s works are publishing in different languages, international conferences are holding dedicated to learn his heritage. Our great poet‘s statues are standing at Tokyo, Moscow and Baku cities. Several works were translated into English. Some of them were analyzed scientifically. But Navoi‘s works which were translated into the English language weren‘t the special object of scientific research. This dissertation work is one of the initial works in this area. Therefore it must be mentioned that, we are far from the view of defining and solving all problems in translating. By analyzing and comparing Navoi‘s works with their translations we shared some scientific and theoretical views. The following conclusions are the results of our dissertation work. Alisher Navoi‘s works came to Europe after 56 years of poet‘s death. So spreading his works over Europe has more than 400 years‘ history. One of the main problems in the process of translating Navoi‘s works into English is genre. Navoi‘s several works were translated into English. Translators face up to particular difficulties in each genre. Most of the can manage to solve this problem. 100 For instance, by analyzing Kurella‘s works we can define that in his translation beauty of nature is given as beautiful as in real version. Gazal is not a traditional genre for English literature. Even there is not rhymic way (a-a,b-a,g-a) which is peculiar to gazal genre. Gazal belongs to lyric poet. It is known that the object of this genre is to reveal person‘s temporary feelings. In each line of it lyric hero reveals his own attitude to events which are happening. Gazal‘s show lyric hero‘s inner world and feelings. Therefore, every translation of gazal may cause to the change of meaning. For instance, if translator misses some sentences because of not finding the exact version in the English language. Another problem is in not understanding the real love which is given in gazals. Because in Oriental poetry the love to God is shown in poems. But Western translators often confuse them with love to human being. As a result in many cases the real meaning can be changed. In oriental poetry we can see the richness of vocabulary. Therefore in order to translate Navoi‘s works into English translator should learn the special features of our poetry. The significance of translations of Navoi‘s works is up to translators‘ understanding of poet‘s works. Because without understanding his works fluently, we can not manage the good translation. But it must be mentioned that the first steps were put in translating Navoi‘s works without using intermediary language. Our next task is to create new, more perfect translations without above mentioned mistakes by analyzing present translations. Download 0.73 Mb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
