ANTH 220 Archaeology and Material Culture of Central Asia 

3 credits 

Prerequisite: ANTH 110 

This course is devoted to the archaeological study of the cultures of Mongolia, Southern 

Siberia, Altai, Central Asia and Eastern Turkestan/Xinjiang. Students will become familiar 

with archaeological monuments from the Paleolithic to the Middle Ages and with new 

interpretations of archaeological data. This course is taught at the most modern level of 

scientific knowledge in the archaeology of Central Asia.
