ANSWERS

a) Ideological and moral position of the writer plays an important role in literature classes. It can demonstrate culture and traditions of that nation to the reader by literary works and by writer’s outlook. For instance, when we read uzbek writers, such as Avloniy, Fitrat, we can easily feel the ideology of patriotism, or Navoi, Buxoriy’s literary works show the moral position of the writers.

b) In literature classes, learners’ independent and critical thinking, their working skills can be developed through literary works of different writers. Since each writer’s literary work was based on moral, cultural aspects of that nation. It helps learner to analyze and think deeply, moreover, automatically learner can improve and increase language skills by reading process.

c) Yes, literature can foster the internationalization of the students’ consciousness. Since, through studying foreign literature, reader absorbs the information about global world conflicts, social and cultural background of the certain historical period. In spite of the various nationality, religion or cultural diversity, learners enhance their outlook by humanistic values and different problems belonging to humankind.

d) I totally agree with this opinion. For the reading and understanding deeply any kind of the literary work, reader needs critical thinking ability, rich vocabulary together with other language skills. Without them, literary work can be read just for the fun.

e) For me, literary analysis is to analyze the literary work critically from different angles whether it can be social, historical, cultural or moral, and the written period of the work or the writer’s views on the world. We need it to increase our critical thinking, to improve literary knowledge and language skills as well.

1. Approach-Assumption : An approach is a set of correlative assumptions about the nature of language and language learning

Method- Plan :A method is a plan for presenting the language material to be learned and should be based upon a selected approach.

2. Methodology is a study, that is collection of procedures, techniques, a set of principles of method. Methodology in literature can refer to the approach or theory used when reading or analyzing a particular literary text.

  1. Historical and biographical approach mainly focuses on the life, times, and environment of the author. Reader studies the work in accordance with the period in which the work is produced. The life of the author, the historical events and the values of his age help us understand the work, and in a similar way, the literary work gives information of the author and his own period.

  2. Both of them (Everyday Use and Frankenstein) correspond to the key features of the approaches. It is obvious that in “Everyday Use” several biographical elements of the author are found (for example, appearance, and description of the characters) however, the date, historical setting is not exactly given. In “Frankenstein”, some biographical features (rather than historical) of Mary's life are to be found. For instance, scientific interests and topographical descriptions. If reader got acquainted with the period and author’s biography, he can easily find its elements in these works.

    1. I think the structure of the first essay (Everyday Use) is well organized than the second. Since the reader can easily move to the next paragraphs when reading it. It has clear introduction (however, thesis statement is not directly given), body paragraphs (with topic sentences), and concluding paragraph. Connecting paragraphs, explanations and quotations are also correctly used. The second essay lacks some points with its structure. Paragraphs are disorderly given. Conclusion is also short and not well organized.
