The research plan aim to investigating the plant response to non-toxic (possibly beneficial) or toxic levels of iodine with special emphasis on iodine uptake and distribution within the plants.
How plants respond to iodine applications is crucial to develop effective biofortification strategies through the identification of plant genotypes and iodine levels suitable for increasing iodine content in edible organs while minimizing growth reduction.
