INTRODUCTION (abstract of PhD thesis) 
The purpose of the research 
is to highlight the formation and development 
of the administration of the Western Turkic Khaganate in the Sogdian oasis. 
The object of research 
is the Sogdian oasis during the period of the ruling of 
the Turkic Khaganate.
The scientific novelty 
of the research is as follows: 
it is revealed that the Western Turkic Khaganate ruled the Sugd oasis through 
local officials with Turkic titles such as “tudun”, “eltabar”, “tarkhan”, “choor” and 
sogdian titles like “afshin”, “ikhshid”, “ikhrid”, “ispakhbad”, besides some regions 
ruled by former dynasties, and in others were appointed rulers from representatives 
of power of the kaghanate; 
based on data of numismatic finds, Chinese, Byzantine, Armenian and 
Turkic-Runian written sources clarified a question of origin of local dynasties ruled 
the Sogdian oasis, in particular, it is proved the establishment of the rule of the 
Turkic-Sogdian dynasties in Samarkand and Panch, as well as the Turkic dynasty 
in Nakhshab; 
it was revealed that the southwestern territories (Kasbi) of the Nakhshab 
region served as springboard for attacks by the army of the Western Turkic 
Khaganate in organization of military campaigns against Sassanid Iran; 
the image of rulers with Turkic facial features surrounded by representatives 
of the Sogdian aristocracy on wall paintings of palaces of Afrosiab (Samarkand) 
and Penjikent, dating back to the period of the Kaganate, as well as the reflection 
in the drawings of ceramic and metal products the socio-economic and ethno-
cultural processes that took place in the Sogdian oasis are revealed. In particular, 
established that a noticeable manifestation of the Turkic-Sogdian traditions in the 
depiction of anthropological features of various ethnic groups and ornaments of 
their clothes, hairstyles, belts, jewelry, buckles, weapons.
