BOCC Approves Use of Golf Carts in Old Homosassa Area
The Board of County Commissioners approved the use of golf carts in the Old Homosassa Area at their regular meeting held on December 15, 2015.
According to Resolution 2015‐237, the roads and streets designated in the golf cart assessment have been deemed safe for travel. The new speed limit in the designated area will be 25 mph.
The County will display a map of the approved area on the website www.citrusbocc.com . The
Road Maintenance Division will be installing new speed limit signs on December 29, 2015 and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office will be enforcing the new regulation as of December 30, 2015.
Citizens will be responsible for abiding by Florida Statute 316.212 (1) after sunset to include headlights, a windshield, brakes, a rearview mirror and reflectors in the front and rear of the golf cart. A golf cart may not be operated on public roads or streets by any person under the age of 14.
The County would like to emphasize the use of golf carts is allowed only in the areas specified in the Resolution for the Old Homosassa area.
