Annotation: Communication is a natural phenomenon, it is the interaction with people and the exchange of information with them. You know, whether you speak or not, will convey the message to the other side. There are two types of communication, verbal and non-verbal.
Key words and expressions: Communication, verbal communication, formal communication, informal communication, chronemics, vocals, artifacts.
Oral communication is a process that uses words to exchange information with people and the public through oral speech or writing. In contrast, nonverbal communication does not use words to convey something, but some other modes are used, meaning communication is through unspoken or unwritten messages such as body language, facial expressions, sign language, etc. In this article, we have detailed all the important differences between verbal and non-verbal communication. [1]
Communication in which the sender uses words orally or in writing to convey the message to the recipient is known as oral communication. This is the most effective form of communication that generates rapid exchange and feedback of information. It is less likely not to understand, because the communication between the parties is clear, that is, the parties are using words to say anything.
Communication is carried out in two ways:

  • Oral - face communication, lectures, phone calls, seminars, etc.

  • Writing - letters, e-mail, SMS, etc.

There are usually two types of communication, which are as follows:
Formal communication: also referred to as formal communication, is a type of communication in which the sender monitors a predetermined channel to send information to the sender, known as formal communication.
Informal communication: a type of communication in which a particular sender does not follow predetermined channels for the transmission of information is known as informal communication. [2]
Nonverbal communication is based on understanding the aspects of communication, since the transmission of a message from the sender to the recipient is nonverbal, that is, the use of signs of communication. Thus, if the recipient fully understands the message and relevant comments are made later, then the communication will be successful. He complements verbal communication several times, in order to understand the opinion and state of the parties not spoken by them, but this is an attempt to understand.
The types of nonverbal communication are as follows:[3]
Chronemics: the use of time in communication is a chronemics that talks about the personality of the sender / receiver, the speed of speech, the speed of speech, etc. Vocals: the volume, volume and pitch used by the sender to convey the message to the recipient is known as vocal or paralangage.
Haptics: the use of touch in communication is an expression of feelings and emotions. Kinesika: this is the study of the body language of a person, that is, gestures, postures, facial expressions, etc.
Proxemics: reports the distance that a person keeps in contact with others, the person's closeness to others, their relationships, such as personal, social and public.
Artifacts: a person's appearance speaks of his personality, that is, about dressing, walking with jewelry, lifestyle, etc. Such communication is known as Artifact communication.
The use of words in communication is oral communication. Communication based on signs rather than words is nonverbal communication.
There is very little chance of confusion in verbal communication between the sender and the recipient.[4] On the contrary, the likelihood of misunderstandings and confusion in non-verbal communication is very high, since the use of language is not carried out.
Switching a message in verbal communication is very fast, which leads to rapid feedback. In contrast to this, nonverbal communication is based on a more time-consuming understanding and is therefore relatively slow.[5]
Oral communication carries out the most natural desire of people - speech. In nonverbal communication, emotions, posture, emotions, personality, etc.are very easily conveyed through actions carried out by the parties to communication.
Verbal and non-verbal communication are not contradictory, but they complement each other, as someone rightfully says: "actions are higher than words." In conclusion, both walk side by side, helping a person to interact and respond to other people. Verbal communication is an important part of life because we use words to speak. But have you ever thought that a baby baby cannot use language or words to speak, but he chooses signs that indicate his anger, happiness and sadness. Similarly, deaf and dumb people also use sign language to communicate with other people.
