6. More Employment is a Benefit of Education

Degree holders have access to more jobs. For graduates of bachelor’s programs or higher, the unemployment rate is cut in half.

7. Career Entry and Advancement

College degrees prepare students for a career, or for advancement within their current field. Higher education gives the training and skills necessary for success in a specific area. In addition, many positions require a degree for entry. Some may not even look at a resume where the applicant has no degree.

8. Economic Growth

When an entire society is educated, productivity increases, average income increases, and unemployment decreases. This leads to the economic growth and stability of a society as a whole. It starts with education.
Higher Income as a Benefit of Education
Those with education beyond high school tend to have higher salaries than high school degree holders. Those with no degrees make the lowest salaries on average. For full-time workers in 2017, weekly average wages for those with no degree was $515, followed by high school graduates at $717, and $1,189 for bachelor’s degree holders. Those with graduate degrees made an average of $1,451.

9. Environmental Benefits

Climate change is a large part of the conversation today, and society needs to work together to find ways to reduce impact on the earth. Educated individuals that enter the workforce will put their knowledge of climate change into company policies, leading to increased sustainability.

WRITE S FORMAL LETTER TO YOUR FUTURE WORKPLACE

I do a lot of self-assessment exercises with professionals and pre-professionals. I really think it is important to do this on a regular basis. If we want what we want, we not only have to have patience, we have to have direction and desire.

It is easy to become someone because of monetary aspirations, locations preferences, family pressure, and fear but do you really have a clear idea of what you want to do and why?
In 2015 I was asked by a fellow Coach to write a letter to my future professional self. The point of the letter was to be honest and clearly outline my true aspirations, passions, desires, abilities, unique skill-set, strengths, work preferences, career goals, attributes, lifelong learning opportunities, location limitations, and anything additional that would help me to see a clearer picture of YOU...the PROFESSIONAL.
This exercise is so important whether you are just starting out, presently in a career but looking to change or move up, a budding entrepreneur, or someone who just needs to be constantly challenged. It is good to take the time to re-assess all the things that could play a part in your professional health and happiness. "Career" takes up a significant place on the wheel of life and if we don't take time to nurture our career needs, we can find ourselves in a undesirable place that can wreak havoc and put a strain on our everyday health and happiness.
Writing a letter to your professional self can just help to put things in perspective. Since you are the driver, you have quite a bit of power. It can give us all insight into how we all have the ability to fundamentally shape and grow who we would like to ultimately become both personally and professionally.
