DESCRIPTION IN FANTASY GENRE IN JK

LITERATURE REVIEW
The Latin word phantasticus means ‘to make visible’; the broadest definitions speak of fantasy as an image-making faculty or a mental image. In terms of literature, fantasy is described as “imaginative fiction dependent for effect on strangeness of setting (such as other worlds or times) and characters (such as supernatural beings). There have been several efforts to define fantasy as a literary form as well as a genre. Fantasy is referred to be "the literature of unreality" or "literature that does not prioritize realistic depiction" due to the way it is depicted. It is considered to be "a literature of want, which seeks that which is perceived as absence and loss" because of its potent escapist and wish-fulfillment elements.
Similar to the definition, categorizing fantasy into different subgenres is difficult and might include a variety of categorization standards. Based on the distinction between the use of fancy and imagination, C. N. Manlove divides fantasy into two major categories. His subcategories include creative fantasy and comedic fantasy. The major objectives of the comic are reader enjoyment and the author's sensation of confinement.
According to Jackson, fantasy is a style that combines aspects of both the fantastic and mimetic genres. The wonderful form is frequently utilized in romances, works involving magic and supernaturalism, and works by fairy tale authors and collectors like Andrew Lang, the Grimm Brothers, and Hans Christian Andersen. According to Jackson, the works of Tolkien also fall within the wondrous category. On the other hand, the mimetic method, which is typical of novels from the 19th century, can be thought of as imitation of external reality.
It was only recently that fantasy emerged as a distinct genre. It has long been regarded as a subpar work of science fiction literature. According to Jackson, the origins of fantasy may be found in ancient myths, stories, folklore, and carnival art. Fantasy is a timeless literary style. She continues by citing examples of fantasy elements in Romantic literature, including gothic stories and novels, fantastic realism (such as in the Bronte books), and Victorian fantasies in the writings of Lewis Caroll, George MacDonald, and Charles Kingsley.
