Subject: Who Lives in Fairy-Tales?
During the classes
I. Organizational moment.
Good morning girls and boys!
We welcome you on our unusual lesson. Today we speak about our favorite holidays-Christmas and New Year Eve. Our aim is to compare traditions in GB and in Russia. And our heroes for today are from the fairy-tale. Who are they? Let's watch a bit of a film and guess. (an excerpt from the film “Morozko” - Santa Claus in the forest)
So, our first hero is … Father Frost or Ded Moroz! Where does he live? (“He lives in a Russian forest”) Do children like Father Frost? (“Yes, they do.”) Why? (“They like to get presents. ”) By the way, what presents would you like to get? (“I’d like to get….”
Well, who is the second hero of our lesson? Look at the screen! (Santa Claus presentation pictures) So, who comes to children of GB? ("Santa Claus")
Well, today we have two teams: the team of Father Frost and the team of Santa Claus. We welcome our guests (two high school students in masks of Santa Claus and Santa Claus enter).
Let's sing a song to greet our heroes! (song “Say Hello”)
(high school students break down into teams)
Our plan for today is:
to get to know more about Father Frost and Santa Claus,
guess puzzles,
to prepare for holidays,
to write Christmas-cards.
II. The main part of the lesson.
1 Santa Claus is like our Father Frost, is not he? (“Yes, he is. Because he is kind, gives presents and is very nice.”) Is he a brother of our Russian hero? What do you think?
Let's listen to the story of our guests and get to know more about them.
High school students' story:
Actually, Father Frost and Santa Claus are one and the same fairy-tale hero. They have one and the same name. It's "St. Nicholas" or "Nicholas the Wonderworker". In English “saint” is “St.” or “Santa”, and “Nikolai” is “Nicolaus” or tender - “Claus”.compare in Russian “Nikolai” or “Kolya”. So, the hero's name is Santa Claus. Where does our hero come from?
More than 17 centuries ago in Asia Minor (now Turkey is located in this place), a boy was born in the city of Patara, who was named Nicholas. When he grew up, he became a bishop in the city of Myra, where he enjoyed great prestige and respect. The main qualities of Nicholas were modesty, virtue and a desire to help all people, especially the sick, the poor and the destitute. Nikolai's parents were very wealthy people. And when the young man received the inheritance, he, without hesitation, distributed it to those in need. The name of Bishop Nicholas is also associated with an ancient legend about how three beautiful girls grew up in one family. But their father went bankrupt, and no one wanted to marry poor beauties. And then Nikolai secretly made his way to their housing and threw three bundles of gold into the dowry for his daughters to the father of the girls. Bishop Nicholas paid much attention to the upbringing of children. He helped talented kids, but he was strict with the naughty ones. Nikolay punished naughty and negligent boys and girls.
In general, Nikolai tried to make the life of the kids fun and interesting. Therefore, during the celebration of the New Year, he personally dressed up in a fur coat and hat, tied up his beard and played in front of them the role of an old wizard grandfather who came from the far North. Here he is, the progenitor of all New Year's Santa Clauses. Centuries have passed since then. Bishop Nicholas was equated with the saints, and he received the name Nicholas the Wonderworker, or Saint Nicholas. People still remember him. They did not forget the idea of holding a merry New Year's holiday associated with the arrival of a kind wizard grandfather. In ancient Rus', the New Year was celebrated according to its customs. And the fairy-tale heroes Frost-Red Nose, Zimushka-Winter, Snowstorm, Blizzard enjoyed the greatest honor and respect.
And when new European customs came to us, the Russian people very quickly endowed St. Nicholas with those features that were inherent in the fabulous Frost. So Nikolai received a long beard and mustache (Santa Claus has both a beard and a short mustache), a long fur coat with a large collar and a magic staff. Yes, and they began to call him more in Russian - Grandfather Frost. Unlike the Western Santa Claus, who races across the sky on reindeer and imperceptibly puts presents for children on Christmas night on December 25, our Santa Claus comes to visit noisily and cheerfully on New Year's Eve. He brings gifts in bundles, almost like St. Nicholas to the daughters of a ruined father, but Santa Claus puts gifts for children in stockings, socks or shoes. It is no coincidence that in the evening on the eve of the cherished day, children properly clean their shoes and put them at the doorstep.
Well, our teams are ready. We begin our competition. Our teams should decorate their Christmas-trees. (The jury decides who will win the competition and decorates the Christmas tree for each team: 1 point for the competition - 1 ball for the Christmas tree)
2. Checking homework.
Let's check your homework! Let's begin our “Christmas - tree Parade". (At home, the guys drew unusual Christmas trees that may or may not perform various actions)
Examples: “My Christmas-tree can neither dance, nor sing, but it can jump and run. "(Herringbone in sports" clothes "and sneakers);
“My Christmas-tree can neither swim, nor watch video, but it can have breakfast." (Near the Christmas tree instead of decorations - dishes and various “goodies” for tea), etc.
3. Now our competitions!
The first competition is “A Talk with Santa/Father Frost" (Santa Frost students take turns asking their team members questions and getting short answers. The main thing is not to get confused and answer quickly and correctly. Sample questions:
What is your name? Are you a girl? a boy? How old are you? Where do you live? Can you dance? Jump? Sing? Can you play football? basketball? Can you play the violin? The piano? The drum? What do you like to eat? To drink? When do you get up? Do you go to school? And so on)
The second competition is “A Snowman". Guess the words of the puzzle. (the puzzle is placed on a poster with a picture of a snowman, the guys from each team circle the words in their own color, whoever has the most guessed words is the winner)
The third competition is “ Christmas Menu". Let's make a list of menu for our guests! The team of Father Frost makes menu of Russian food, and the team of Santa Claus makes menu of British food.
Words: hot ale with spices and sugar, lemons, salads, fried chicken, apple-pies, tarts, oat-cakes, champagne, sweets, chocolate, fruit, egg-nog, turkey, Christmas pudding, potatoes with chops, fruit cake, mince pies, ice-cream, Christmas crackers, biscuits.
The fourth competition is “A Christmas Time-table". Say, what can you do at different time to prepare to the party? or New Year Eve?And at 2pm?...
Words: play hockey, make a cake, help mom to cook, lay the table, wash fruits, make a snow-man, cut vegetables for salads, decorate the Christmas tree, play snowballs, skate…
Physical education - a minute.
Let's have a rest! Your heroes ask you to do something. You do things if you hear the word “please”. (Children only fulfill the requests of Santa Clauses, who is mistaken --- “freezes”, i.e. drops out of the game) For example: Swim! Skip! Dance, please! Run, please! Make a snowman! Make a snowball, please! Write! Have breakfast! And so on.
(To warm the “frozen”, you need to do fun exercises - dance and sing the song “We can do anything”)
The fifth competition is "Christmas card".
Paint and write a Christmas card in English! All kids of the team make one card.
III. Outcome:
The jury counts the points-balls on the teams' trees. The winners are awarded with medals. Everyone is treated to sweet prizes. The most active get grades. What do you like the best at the lesson?
IV. Write down your hometask: make a Christmas card with wishing in English and in Russian, compare and remember the differences.

Conclusion
In our study, we considered the problem - the development of children's creativity in the process of teaching English.
The result of the study and the practice of work suggest that the effectiveness of the educational process largely depends on the ability of the teacher to organize the lesson correctly and correctly choose one or another form of conducting the lesson.
As you know, the goal of teaching a foreign language at school is the formation of intercultural competence of students, which is realized in the ability to verbal communication. The key to successful speech activity of students is non-traditional forms of English lessons, during which students become familiar with the culture of the countries of the language being studied, and also expand their knowledge of the cultural heritage of their native country, which allows students to take an active part in the dialogue of cultures.
Non-traditional forms of conducting lessons make it possible not only to raise students' interest in the subject being studied, but also to develop their creative independence, creative thinking, and teach them to work with various sources of knowledge.
Such forms of conducting classes "remove" the traditional nature of the lesson, enliven the thought. However, it should be noted that too frequent recourse to such forms of organization of the educational process is inappropriate, since the non-traditional can quickly become traditional, which, ultimately, will lead to a drop in students' interest in the subject.
The developing and educating potential of non-traditional forms of the lesson can be characterized by defining the following learning objectives:
the formation of students' interest and respect for the culture of the country of the language being studied;
fostering a culture of communication and the need for practical use of the language in various fields of activity;
development of linguistic, intellectual and cognitive abilities, development of value orientations, feelings and emotions of the student.
In the course of the work, the goal was achieved. We have shown that the development of students' creative abilities depends not only on the form of a non-traditional lesson, but on the teacher's pedagogical creativity. The following tasks were also completed:
traced the process of development of the creative abilities of the personality of students in the classroom in English;
gave a definition of the concept of "non-traditional lessons" and described the various forms of their implementation;
analyzed the categories "creativity", "creative abilities;
developed classes in English, contributing to the development of creative abilities of schoolchildren.
The research materials can be used in the work of foreign language teachers in secondary schools, gymnasiums and schools with in-depth study of a foreign language, as well as for students of pedagogical universities in the process of teaching English in elementary school.
