Some people say History is one of the most important school subjects. Other people think that, in today’s world, subjects like Science and Technology are more important than History.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

While some claim that History is the most essential subject in the school curriculum, others believe that today Science and Technology outweigh this subject.

Some might argue that great emphasis should be placed on studying history. This is probably because history helps us understand the status quo as well as the future as we know it. In other words, by studying lessons from the past, like wars and the lifestyles of our ancestors, we can sometimes predict what future might unfold before us. The reason is that our present and future actions are usually built upon what we have been fed with – the past. Therefore, it looks as though history classes should be taught widely around the world.
However, other core subjects such as science and IT transcend History. This is largely because these subjects have the potential to make immense and direct contributions to human lives unlike history, whose contributions are mostly irrelevant to our daily lives. For example, scientists have been able to streamline our lives by inventing mobile phones that connect us with people all over the globe, or cars that help us reach our destinations easily. If it had not been for our technological skills, we would not have come such a long way. Thus, it seems reasonable that science and technology should be taken more seriously than history.
Although History plays a vital role in our lives as a whole, I believe that Science and Technology have more obvious influence on humanity, hence should be considered more crucial than other subjects in terms of teaching them.
