  1. What has your most memorable encounter been with someone from another culture / race?

It was the first time I met an African person, I was very surprised because it was the first time I saw a black boy, a man with long hair with small braids

  1. Describe a time when you have experienced prejudice or discrimination.

During my school days, there were a lot of fights between classmates. Especially when I was in the 5th grade, my classmate Habi and I had a fight and we were a group of 5 girls who beat him up. Looking back now, it seems very funny.

  1. Can you think of a commonly held stereotype you have of someone from a different background to yours with whom you have been working / often been in touch?

I, a young white woman, was walking down the steps to the subway on the Upper West Side, and I noticed that a black man had started to walk down the steps behind me.
Since there was no one else in the station, I started to worry that he was going to attack me and I looked behind myself multiple times as I passed through the turnstyle, trying to keep a safe distance from him.
The man noticed my behavior and said: “Are you panicked because I’m black? Don’t worry. I won’t hurt you.” I felt so ashamed for being suspicious of him.


  1. Describe something about yourself that no-one can tell merely by looking at you.

I am very serious among people, but anyone who has lived with me knows that I am a very cheerful and positive girl.


  1. Does diversity exclude you?

Some people see and wear colorful, bright, clothing as fashionable, matching with this color, but this is an exception for me.


  1. How important do you think diversity management is in the workplace?

Fostering cultural diversity in the workplace ensures that employees work better as a team. This enhances their productivity and leads to better results. Culturally diverse organizations also contribute to higher employee morale and boost their collective confidence.
