Conclusion
In conclusion, the stigma attached with disability and persons with disability along with the 
influence of the macrosystem gives rise to negative attitudes and perceptions and societal 
barriers, which lead to the victimization of persons with disability. They more than often 
suffer neglect, abandonment and maltreatment, due to the lack of awareness regarding 
disability and the manner in which persons with disabilities have been perceived over the 
centuries. Although it was occurred a shift in perspective from the charity based model 
towards 
the 
rights 
based 
model, 
little 
has 
changed 
in 
ground
