However, many use the same formula or methods described above. In the first instance, the Serials Team in your library should be able to provide you with contacts at the different companies, who are usually excellent sources of information. They can advise you about whether linking to resources in this way is covered by your licence, any tools that have been set up to facilitate linking the standards that are being adhered to, as well as offering general advice and support. If linking in this way is not available, your inquiry may well lead to the development of this service and they should be able to offer an alternative solution, such as allowing articles to be downloaded and used in the VLE, under the terms of your licence. Care has been taken to ensure the instructions are as up to date as possible. However, this area is one in which developments take place rapidly, therefore it is recommended you contact either your representative at the various companies or their website for more information. 158 Case studies and practical examples Conclusion This final chapter has highlighted a number of different approaches to integrating library resources with virtual learning environments. The case studies highlight that there are a number of ways in which librarians can become involved in e-learning initiatives as UK academic libraries are developing new services. The electronic environment has provided libraries with an opportunity to exploit and extend their role in learning. The key to that success is integration of systems, but also collaboration and joint projects with both technologists but also educators. Notes 1. See: http://heronweb.ingenta.com/packtrackerdemo/ 2.
