McDonald's (pronounced: MacDonalds) is an American corporation, and today it is the largest fast food restaurant chain in the world. It was founded as a restaurant in 1940 by Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California, USA. In 1955, businessman Ray Kroc joined the company as a franchise agent and later bought it from the McDonald brothers. McDonald's was headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, and moved its headquarters to Chicago in June 2018. McDonald's is the world's largest restaurant chain by revenue, with 37,855 stores in more than 100 countries and territories as of 2018. These restaurant chains serve more than 69 million customers every day. Although McDonald's is known for its hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and French fries, its products also include sodas, milk and ice cream, wraps, and desserts. The company added salads, fish, smoothies, and fruit to its menu in response to changing consumer tastes and negative reactions to unhealthy corporate foods. McDonald's Corporation profits from rent and fees paid by franchisees, as well as sales from company-operated restaurants. According to two 2018 reports, McDonald's is the second largest private employer in the world with 1.7 million workers (behind Walmart with 2.3 million). According to 2020 data, McDonald's ranks ninth in the world in terms of brand value. British Fish, Chips and Peas. Favorite fish and chips! Deep-fried fish with golden chips is still a favorite of England and Ireland. The traditional choice of fish for fish and chips is usually cod or dudboy, although flounder, plaice, even tilapia can vary. Of course, British "chips" are the same as American French fries! Cornish Pasty. Cornish pies are a delicious way to combine beautiful meats and vegetables in a beautiful prawn pastry! Nothing beats the heat outside the oven.
