Peter Benenson

  • Peter Benenson (born Peter James Henry Solomon; 31 July 1921 – 25 February 2005) was a British barrister, human rights activist and the founder of the human rights group Amnesty International . He refused all honours for most of his life, but in his 80s, largely to please his family, he accepted the Pride of Britain Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2001.

William Blakston


William Blaxton was born in HorncastleLincolnshire, England. He was admitted to Emmanuel College, Cambridge as a sizar in 1614 and received an in 1621. He was ordained as a priest of the Church of England in May 1619 by Thomas Dove, Bishop of Peterborough.
Blaxton joined the failed Ferdinando Gorges expedition to America in 1623. He eventually arrived in Weymouth, Massachusetts later in 1623 on the ship Katherine, as a chaplain in the subsequent expedition of Robert Gorges
Brenda Marjorie Hale, Baroness Hale of Richmond, DBE, PC, FBA (born 31 January 1945) is a British judge who served as President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom from 2017 until her retirement in 2020, and serves as a member of the House of Lords as a Lord Temporal.
In 2004, she joined the House of Lords as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary.

John Cartwright 


John Cartwright (born 1957 is the Professor of the Law of Contract at the University of Oxford, a Student (Fellow) of Christ Church, and a qualified SolicitorHe sat Honour Moderations in Classics in 1978, but decided to become a lawyer and transferred courses, gaining a BA in Jurisprudence from the university in 1981. Afterwards, he read the BCL.
Cartwright was appointed an Official Student of Christ Church after graduation and has been a Tutor of Law since 1982. In 2004 he was appointed Reader in the Law of Contract at the university. He has been Professor of the Law of Contract since 2008.

Sir Edward Henry Murray 


Sir Edward Henry Murray (born 4 May 1958) is a British High Court judge.
Murray was born in Washington, DC, United States and attended St. Anselm's Abbey School in Washington, DC. He completed an MA in philosophy at Trinity College Dublin in 1980 and a JD cum laude at Harvard Law School in 1985.
In 1986, he was admitted to the New York State Bar and was an associate of Sidley & Austin from 1986 to 1990. In 1992, he was admitted as a solicitor and joined Allen & Overy as an associate, being promoted to partner in 1993 and served in that derivates structure group at the firm until 2013. He is a naturalised UK citizen. Though he did not having a background as an advocate, he was appointed as a recorder in 2009 and a deputy High Court judge in 2013.
