1.Introduction
(40 minutes)
|
T. divides Ss into 4 groups and writes the following questions on the board and asks groups to answer to the following questions:
What is translation?
How does it differ from novels and stories?
Have you ever tried to translate poems from one language into another?
What difficulties did you face while translating the texts?
T. asks groups to report their answers to the whole group.
|
Ss listen to the T. and answer the questions that are on the board.
|
2.Main part
(100 minutes)
|
Activity 1 Tips on poetry translation (20 min)
T. distributes the handouts to Ss and asks them to look through the handout and working in pairs answer the following questions. The T. writes the questions on the board:
What things are required in the transpation of poems?
What is alliteration?
What is assonance? Consonance? Rhyme?
T. asks Ss to present their answers.
Activity 2: Comparing poems: the original and translated versions (40 min)
T. distributes the handouts with poems and asks Ss to compare the original and the translation
T.asks Ss to present their findings from the comparison.
Activity 3. Article on the problems of translation (40 min)
T distributes handouts with the article and asks Ss to read the article and analyze if the problems given in the article were mentioned by them before
T.asks each group to present their answers on the poster

Ss look through the handout
Ss work in pairs, answer the questions.
Ss present their answers to the questions.
Ss listen to the teacher and follow the handouts.
Ss present what they analyzed while comparing the poems
Ss read the article, analyze the problems given in the article.
