The rules of the game and the basics of organizing the competition
Two teams of five players each take part in a basketball game. The goal of both teams is to throw the ball into the opponent's basket and prevent the other team from capturing the ball and throwing it into the basket.
The ball can be passed, thrown into the basket, rolled or carried in any direction on the field only under conditions of compliance with the laws described below.
The playing field must be rectangular in shape, with a hard, flat surface and free of obstacles.
For Olympic tournaments and World Cup matches, the field dimensions shall be 28m x 15m in length and shall be measured from the inside of the boundary line.
For all other competitions, FIBA-related structures, such as the Zonal Commission for zonal and continental competitions or the National Federation for domestic competitions, have the right to approve the dimensions of the existing playing fields as follows: provided that the changes are proportional to each other, 4 m can be shortened to 2 m in length and 2 m in width.
All newly constructed fields must be 28 m x 15 m in accordance with the specific requirements for important official FIBA competitions.
The ceiling height should not be lower than 7 m and it should be sufficiently lit. Light sources must be installed in places where they do not interfere with the players.
The playing field must be marked with clearly visible lines, and these lines must be located at least 2 m away from spectators, advertising barriers and other obstacles at the desired point. The lines marking the long sides of the field should be called side lines, and the lines marking the short sides should be called width lines. The lines should be drawn in such a way that they are clearly visible and should be 0.5 cm wide. The central circle must have a radius of 1.80 m and be marked in the center of the field. The radius must be measured to the outer edge of the circle. The central line should be parallel to the width lines, passing through the middle of the side lines and protruding 15 cm from both side lines. The part of the field between the width line behind the opponent's shield and the near edge of the center line is the team's front zone. The rest of the field, including the center line, is the team's back zone. The part of the floor separated on the field and bounded by the lines forming two arcs is considered as a 3-point field goal zone. Each arc is drawn in the form of a semicircle with a radius of 6.75 to the outer edge, marking a point on the floor perpendicular to the absolute center of the basket as the center, and is continued parallel to the side lines and ends in the width lines (Fig. 29).
The part of the floor bounded by the boundary lines, free-throw lines and lines passing through the boundary lines are considered restricted zones. Their outer limits are 3 m from the center of the width lines, ending at the outer edge of the free throw line.
The free throw area is a limited area on the field of play separated by a semi-circle with a radius of 1.80 m. Their centers are located in the middle of the free throw line. Such semicircles are drawn with dotted lines inside the bounded zones.
the free - throw zone b when the free-throw is thrown. Such areas are determined as follows: the first is determined 1.75 m from the inner edge of the crossbar, measured along the lines from the penalty area. The first place is limited by a line drawn at a distance of 0.85 cm. Behind this line is a neutral room with a width of 0.40 cm. The second place is located in the middle of the neutral zone and has a width of 0.85 cm. After the line marking the second place, a third place with a width of 0.85 cm is marked. All lines used to mark these areas will be 10 cm long and 0.5 cm wide. These lines should be perpendicular to the side lines of the penalty area and drawn on the outside.
J arima t o' pin throwing line is passed parallel to both width lines. Its long edge should be 5.80 m from the inner edge of the width line and it should be 3.60 m long. Its center should be on the line connecting the middle of both width lines.
