The fee for plan review shall be twenty percent (20%) of the amount to be charged for the construction permit and shall be paid before the plans are reviewed. & 75-3 EAST BRUNSWICK CODE & 75-3 G. The fee for a permit to construct a sign shall be One Dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) per square foot of the surface area of the sign, provided that the minimum fee shall be Sixty Five Dollars ($65.00). In the case of double-faced signs, the area of the surface of only one (1) side of the sign shall be used for purposes of the fee computation. [Amended 4- 11-94 by Ord. No. 94-20; 9-26-05 by Ord. No. 07-20] (1) A fee for a Certificate of Occupancy shall be required for all new construction, additions, alterations or renovations, in the amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the permit fee. A Certificate of Occupancy fee for all new commercial buildings or additions shall be Ten percent (10%) of the permit fee with a minimum fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). A Certificate of Occupancy fee for commercial renovation, repair or alteration shall be Ten percent (10%) of the permit fee with a minimum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). Spec. Buildings, Malls & Similar Structures - Certificate of Occupancy for each tenant shall be One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). The Certificate of Occupancy fee for all new residential buildings or additions shall be Ten percent (10%) of the permit fee with a minimum fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). 9-07 & 75-3 EAST BRUNSWICK CODE & 75-3 3. The Department fee for elevator devices in structures in Use Group R-3 or R-4 shall be $150.00. This fee shall be waived when signed statements and supporting inspection and acceptance test reports are filed by an approved qualified agent or agency in accordance with N.J.A.C. 5:23-2.19 and 2.20. 4. The fee for witnessing acceptance tests of, and performing inspections of, alterations shall be $150.00. [Amended 6-25-07 by Ord. No. 07-20] (b)
The Department fees for routine and periodic tests and inspections for elevator devices in structures not in Use Group R-3 or R-4 shall be as follows [Amended 6-25-07 by Ord. No. 07-20]: 1. The Construction Official shall, with the advice of the subcode officials, prepare and submit to the East Brunswick Township Council, annually, a report recommending a fee schedule based on the operating expenses of the agency and any other expenses of the municipality fairly attributable to the enforcement of the State Uniform Construction Code Act. 3 L. In order to provide for the training, certification and technical support programs required by the Uniform Construction Code Act and the regulations, the enforcing agency shall collect, in 4 addition to the fees specified above, a surcharge fee of $0.00265 per cubic foot of volume of new construction, new buildings, and additions. Volume shall be computed in accordance with N.J.A.C.5:23-2.28. The fee for all other construction shall be $1.35 per $1,000 of value of construction. Said surcharge fee shall be remitted to the Bureau of Housing Inspection, Department of Community Affairs, on a quarterly basis for the fiscal quarters ending September 30, December 31, March 31 and June 30, and not later than one (1) month next succeeding the end of the quarter for which it is due. In the fiscal year in which the regulations first become effective, said fee shall be collected and remitted for the third and fourth quarters only. [Amended 9-26-05 by Ord. No. 05-28] M. The enforcing agency shall report, annually, at the end of each fiscal year to the Bureau of Housing Inspection, and not later than July 31, the total amount of the surcharge fees collected in the fiscal year. In the fiscal year in which the regulations first become effective, said report shall be for the third and fourth quarters only. & 75-3.1. The East Brunswick Chief Construction Official is hereby designated as the municipal officer who shall take remedial action with regard to buildings or structures which are unfit for human habitation, occupancy or use. All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with or in conflict with this chapter are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency, including but not limited to Section 2-6.5e, Construction Board of Appeals; Chapter XIV, Plumbing; and Sections 16-1 through 16-6, inclusive, of the Building Code.
