My Native Town. Tashkent.
Tashkent is the capital of the country and of Tashkent Viloyat ( region) located near the Chirchiq River in a cotton -and – fruit – growing region. It is a very old city. It was founded more than 2000 years ago. Tashkent is a major industrial and transportation center. It has industries producing machinery, cotton tobacco products and furniture. A center of Uzbek culture, Tashkent has several large libraries and is the seat of the Uzbek Academy of Science and numerous other institutions of higher learning. Tashkent is often called a city of peace and friendship. For a very short period of time Tashkent became well known in the world as the capital of the new sovereign , independent state. Numbers of summit talks are held in Tashkent. A lot of embassies and representations of many international organizations, companies and firms are opened in our city. Thousand of tourists and businessmen visit Tashkent every year and get acquainted with its monuments and ancient Uzbek culture.
