How was it building a new “brand baby?”
Creating a new category is tough. I did it once before with the creation of
the Beauty Bar but that didn’t make this any easier. There are many
naysayers when you do something new that has never been done before.
This was very challenging due to the sheer scope of working with
universities and launching forty products at once. There were a lot of
moving parts. I enjoyed every minute of it, as I love a challenge and I’m an
entrepreneur and this is what I do.

What keeps you motivated?
Creating newness and having fantastic people around me who love our
mission keep me motivated always!
What is one piece of advice you have for a female entrepreneur just
starting out?
Never ever take no for an answer. Always be polite but never let no stop
you from going after what you truly know is your passion and purpose in
life!

MY BIGGEST TAKEAWAY FROM THIS CHAPTER:

CHAPTER NINE
Don’t Wait for an Invitation
“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask,
the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the
same place.”
– Nora Roberts
So as you’ve probably noticed, I’ve talked a lot about mindset shifts
and faith in yourself through this book. And while getting in the right
mental space is crucial for success, all of that means nothing if you do not
hustle.
The thing that sets successful female entrepreneurs apart from the
women who simply dream is the fact that they grind and hustle with
abandon. They stop at nothing to make their dreams a reality. They don’t
wait for someone to present them with an opportunity – they go out and
create opportunities for themselves. They send that email. They make that
phone call. They follow up a thousand times. They don’t take rejection to
heart; in fact, it only makes them work harder. They work while other sleep,
they work while others vacation, and they live and breathe their passion.
Successful women don’t wait for an invitation. They invite themselves to
the party.
It’s safe to say I’ve created every single business opportunity in my
own life. And if I haven’t created the actual opportunity myself, I’ve
created the relationship that led me to it. I’ve blazed the trail that has made
success possible for me. And it hasn’t always been obvious. A huge part of
being an entrepreneur is knowing that you are constantly sewing seeds. It’s
not always about the instant gratification, or the immediate sale or

connection. People are watching you all the time, so you’d better be putting
your best foot forward – and making sure your shoes look good.
