Consolee Nishimwe, Author
and Motivational Speaker
I had initially planned on including nine interviews in this book, one to
feature with each chapter. As this book was about to go to press, I had the
privilege of meeting Consolee at a women’s mastermind event I co-hosted
in New York City. From the moment she approached me I knew there was
something magical about her, and I knew she needed to be included in this
project. Upon being introduced to Consolee, she didn’t shake my hand; she
grabbed my arm and held on to me throughout our entire conversation. Her
eyes
twinkled, and I could sense her vulnerability,
compassion, and
willingness to connect almost instantly. She was honestly one of the
warmest women I had ever met and I was truly moved by her presence.
The casual “So, what do you do?” conversation
quickly shifted and
overwhelmed me when Consolee told me she was a survivor of the 1994
genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. She went on to tell me about the pure
horror she endured, losing her entire family and being raped and tortured.
She was a true survivor, one of the few, who has been able to take a horrific
situation and not only maintain a positive outlook on life – but become a
voice for those who could not.
Consolee
epitomizes courage, passion, and empowerment. She is a
beautiful woman and I am honored to share her story with you all.
