Guess what! Student's book and Workbook for grade 1
Guess What! has been composed for a global readership and comprises images of youngsters hailing from different corners of the globe. This varied representation of individuals and locations facilitates pupils to establish links with other societies and acknowledge resemblances within their own society. This, in turn, fosters social consciousness and the growth of fundamental social abilities. Whenever feasible, it is crucial to individualize and contextualize the material. This will render the teachings more captivating and pertinent to learners. Accomplishing this is more liable to stimulate learners, which will enhance their linguistic progress.
On the second and third pages of the first grade Guess What book, there is a table with topics. In this table, not only the topic, but also the vocabulary words, grammar concepts, Story Value, topic for talk time, and CLIL topics to be learned in that unit are clearly indicated. The "Hello" unit given as an introduction includes the names of colors, words used to say hello, say goodbye, introduce yourself, say your favorite color. The first Unit is called School, and in it the children learn school vocabulary, "How many (chairs) can you see?" they will learn the words used to ask and answer questions like In addition, students learn not only the names of items, but also what they are made of. The second unit is called Toys. Children first find the names of the toys by listening and finding them in the picture. In this unit they will learn to ask and answer questions such as "What's this" "Is it a (point)". In addition to this, it also learns whether the toys work with electricity or without electricity. The third unit is called Surname, and they learn the names of family members. Other units called "At home", "My body", "Food", "Actions", "Animals" continued in this way.
First-grade students will undergo two assessments during the academic year, one at the conclusion of the second quarter and the other at the end of the fourth quarter. These evaluations are comprehensive, meaning that Exam 1 will encompass all the topics covered in units 0-3, whereas Exam 2 will include all the material taught in units 4-8. Teachers have the freedom to choose the approach for evaluating their pupils' progress. Numerous resources are available to assist teachers in constructing tests, such as a Test Generator, assessment sheets, assignments, and review exercises. Teachers can create exams for their learners using the Test Generator, which is accessible as part of the online resources. A sample exam created using the Test Generator is included in this supplement for their convenience. Each unit in the Workbook has an assessment sheet at the conclusion that could be utilized as an exam. Alternatively, the assignments in the Student's Book at the conclusion of each unit could be used as an exam. When using an assignment as an exam, teachers should design a rubric and share it with their students to inform them how they will be evaluated.
