2.1.2. Primary data analysis (with Detailed PESTLE exploration) 
A sample population of 70 people was used for the primary data analysis, and the 
researcher circulated a questionnaire(See Appendix) and gathered data for the study. The author 
will employ primary data analysis and assume that the sample is representative of the study's 
complete population, implying that the chosen group will portray the entire population, 
allowing the research to be generalized to the full community.The author has chosen random 
sampling for his study, in which the inhabitants of the island will randomly select micro/small 
and medium-sized companies from a divided subgroup.In order to achieve an accurate estimate 
of the population, the participants will be spread around the country. 
The Google Forms platform was utilized to build the questionnaire.To ensure a more 
effective outcome, the questionnaire was sent out by email, WhatsApp, and Facebook 
Messenger to a group of 70 people from various parts of the country.The Questionnaire was 
designed in a manner that will cover all the fields shown in the PESTLE Analysis , in order to 
get the responder’s opinion towards all the factors affecting their SMEs. 
Question 1 
What type of Business Do you own?(See figure2.2) 
The intention of the first question is to get an idea, what sort of a Business does the responder 
owns.As the questionnaire was sent in to a seleclted group located all around the Country, the 
outcome must be checked whether the majority of the community are really in the Small or 
Micro Business owners section, as most of the other researchers and also the Department of 
Census and Statistics, Micro and Small Entrepreneurs are at the top as it is the easiest and most 
less risky Business type that people tend to start. And the result was also proved it.

47.1% of the responders have responded that they own Micro Enterprises and respectively 
28.6% and 24.3% for the Small and Medium Enterprises.The reasons for Micro Enterprises to 
top on this list are, as mentioned before as well, becuase they are very easy to start, to find the 
basic capital and to operate it only needs very less employees.Starting a Micro Enterprise is 
very common among people , as it only needs some of their savings and without much operating 
cost, it can run, and the tax regualtions are also very low for the Micro Enterprises.
