CELEBRATING RAMADAN EID IN UZBEKISTAN

  • The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, has signed a resolution "On Celebrating the Ramazan Hayit Holiday" which declares Wednesday, August 31, 2011, as the date of the non-working day off public holiday for the upcoming Ramazan Hayit (End of Ramadan) holiday
  • Earlier mis week (25-Aua-2011). President Karimov had signed another non-working public holiday resolution, the resolution "On Moving the Days Off in Connection with the Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Uzbekistan's Independence On September 1st" which declared the as one-off non-working public holidays in Uzbekistan.

  • About Independence Day Uzbekistan officially known as the Republic of Uzbekistan is called in native Uzbek language as “O‘zbekiston Respublikasi”. Uzbekistan celebrates its Independence Day on September 1st of every year. Uzbekistan got its independence from Russia in September 1, 1991 after many years of suppression. Russia conquered Uzbekistan in the late 19th century and set up a socialist republic in 1924. In Uzbekistan, Independence Day celebrations are marked with huge, state celebrations and blanket TV coverage of traditional dancers and singers singing nationalist songs. Independence Day is a national holiday in Uzbekistan Independence Day is the major and the most revered holiday in Uzbekistan. The country gained independence on August 31, 1991.
