II.1. My future job and responsibilities

In the future, I will become a librarian of the Information Resource Center, an archivist and a specialist in the field of business, according to my chosen profession.

In such professions, it is important to have a good memory, eloquence, logical thinking, politeness, patience, and not to be allergic to book dust.
In order to become an expert in library work, one should master such subjects as literature and mother tongue, foreign language, history, library work, bibliography, informatics and information technologies, visual arts, psychology, aesthetics.
In libraries (information resource centers) and electronic libraries - subscription to the library, filling out forms for readers, distribution of subscription literature, researching the demand for reading, assisting students in choosing literature; introducing students to the electronic library base; activities such as compiling catalogs, developing literature, participating in the collection of library funds, organizing literary conferences, book exhibitions and other events dedicated to a certain topic are carried out.
The librarian opens forms for the students, writes down the names and numbers of the books assigned to these forms. What else does a librarian do? Maintains order in the library, repairs outdated books, compiles a list of books that have become obsolete, accepts incoming publications, fills in systematic and alphabetical catalogs, conducts interviews with students.
The task of the modern library is to create opportunities for students to get acquainted with the rarest books published in small circulation or published long ago and not reprinted. It is clear to everyone that only a very literate person can carry out work on the systematization of such publications. It is also their task to be able to work with the electronic library and electronic database, to help students find not only books, but also electronic books and the necessary sites. In many countries of the world, librarians are highly respected people, and even academic staff turn to them for advice.
The establishment of the library named after A. Navoi in Tashkent made it possible to create opportunities for readers that correspond to world standards. Qualified specialists, operators, programmers and other employees who have acquired special knowledge work there. Of course, specialists with special knowledge work in other libraries of our country today, only most of them are over forty years old and there are almost no men among them.
A modern librarian must not only be a skilled user of the Internet, but also have a good understanding of various library search engines. In essence, a librarian of the 21st century is a consultant who provides efficient, accurate and fast search for information needed by users.
In a word, this profession requires good knowledge and well-rounded development, courtesy and perseverance, and it also includes the possibility of career advancement. The most important thing is that you will have the opportunity to enjoy reading any book you want at no cost. And that's great! So, good luck, future librarians!
