IMPLEMENTATION OF AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING.

In this graduation work deals the role authentic materials and resources available to English language teachers today: from textbooks to online teaching tools, they can all aid and enrich English lessons. Many teachers also introduce authentic English material into their lessons to expose learners to the language as it is spoken in the real world. Authentic material is any material written in English that was not created for intentional use in the English language classroom. Using this content to teach the English language can make the learning process even more engaging, imaginative and motivating for students.

The actuality of the research

is learning languages which is becoming hot issue among the population of the world so that we decided to make some investigations to improve language learning process via authentic materials.

The subject of the research paper is

  • authentic materials in communicative language teaching.
  • As the object of the qualification paper we have taken the existing examples of authentic materials from the English speaking countries literary legacy.

The aim of the research paper is

  • to examine the role of authentic materials to improve communicative competence of learners of the target language.

the following tasks are set up in the research paper:

  • Try to involve as many students as possible in every speaking activity.
  • For this aim, practice different ways of student participation.
  • Reduce teacher speaking time in class while increasing student speaking time. Step back and observe students.
  • Provide maximum opportunity to students to speak the target language by providing a rich environment that contains collaborative work, authentic materials and tasks, and shared knowledge.
  • Indicate positive signs when commenting on a student's response.
  • To organize a cooperative way in teaching and learning while developing integrated skills.

The methods used in the research paper:

  • Communicative language teaching approach
  • Picture describing
  • Simulation

In the first chapter

  • We mainly analyzed the graduation work from the theoretical point of view.

In the second chapter

Types of authentic materials:

  • Authentic listening materials; such as radio news, cartoons, songs, etc.
  • Authentic visual materials, such as street signs, magazines and newspapers pictures, post cards, etc.
  • Authentic printed materials, such as sports reports, newspapers, restaurant menus, train tickets, etc.

b. Go past …….(the park, hospital, museum,..etc) and turn left after the ….(shoe repair kiosk, shop, etc).

d. Walk toward …..(the palace, etc) and turn right after the ….(fountain, gate, etc).

Conclusion

  • After going through the related literature, it is obvious that the use of authentic materials in language teaching is supported by many researchers. They regard the use of this type of materials as a useful means to motivate learners, arouse their interest and expose them to real language they will face in the real world. In addition, authentic materials encourage learners to learn a particular language successfully, because they notice they are dealing with the language in real life.
