Brand name products are sought after by many people these days. While this trend can be seen as desirable in some regards, I would argue that it is, on the whole, a change for the worse.
Growing desire to own famous brand items is not an entirely unfavorable change. Purchasing luxury products made by reputable companies can lead to improved customer satisfaction. This is because such products are known to be of superior quality compared to their less popular versions. Apple products are a good case in point. Despite having a high price tag, they have proved themselves to be a better option than their counterparts. Having purchased famous brand products, customers tend to express higher contentment with their purchase.

In spite of the argument in favor of the popularity of brand products among people, I would contend it is an undesirable trend for two reasons. For one, it undermines people’s happiness. Most people simply cannot afford brand products, as these products cost significantly more than generic options. Once they fail to fulfill their desires, feelings of depression and anxiety will ensue. There are some tangible ramifications to consider as well. People trying to own luxury items sometimes overextend – spending more than they can afford. Hardly is it acceptable when one’s purchasing habits jeopardize them financially.

In conclusion, though the current trend of seeking glamor and quality through famous brand products is partly justifiable, I am inclined to say that it is often accompanied by unhappiness and financial troubles.
