Hosted from Toronto, Canada 129 learners. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance and the effect of using literature to teach culture in the English language classes. Tv. Many people consider that media provides an excellent source for discovering a “new” place and making our students more culturally competent. The press, TV news broadcasts, and talk shows can provide the linguistic and cultural authenticity that our students need in order to become culturally competent. These authentic texts provide valuable opportunities for students to gain insights into the target culture.Facts in newspapers or in TV news broadcasts are “food for thought”, which can be used to help students generate cultural hypotheses.Culture is not seen as homogenous or static. Since newspapers have a wide spectrum of social or ethnic class, gender, age, occupation etc., they may be regarded as a significant tool for evaluating values, perspectives and understanding of the people living in a foreign country. Besides, newspapers cover current issues which help learners to get an accurate idea about target culture. Internet. The Internet has become a major tool for effective teaching as well as a learning tool. Teachers can use it as a teaching tool by posting their teaching materials (notes and videos) on school website or forum . The learning process becomes interesting and diverse with the use of tutorial videos and notes.The Internet has a direct effect on culture and culture uses the Internet to suit its individual needs. People in different cultures use the Internet in different ways, and a main part of its use depends on the structure of the Internet in those cultures.Culture observes itself through individuals to reflect their perception, practices, values and in transfer of technology. Technology has a crucial impact on fundamental aspects of all our cultures including language, art, mobility, education and religion.Social Media has improved creativity and social awareness by fostering interaction with people and sharing new ideas and opinions. Moreover, social media enhances the intercultural adaptation level of people. We use it to become more adaptable to the new culture of the host countries. Picture. Photographs can provide glimpses into lives past, long-ago events, and forgotten places. They can help shape our understanding of culture, history, and the identity of the people who appear in them. Photographs can also be powerful tools for telling stories and chronicling events. Their context and presentation can greatly influence the way we understand everything from historical narratives to current cultural issues and situations. Conclusion. In conclusion,There are many materials and sources for teaching culture .Many analyses of the relationship between education and culture treat culture in one of two ways. Either it is seen as a set of pre-existing attitudes or factors which mitigate against the functioning and processes of the school, or it is seen as something which is reproduced among the younger generation by the school. In both cases culture is regarded as an entity, bearing either an antecedent or consequent relation to the process of education. In both cases culture conveys a slightly negative message. Either culture holds back, prevents or slows down the goals of the educator and educational institution, or the educator and educational institution are servants in the maintenance and reproduction of pre-existing culturesl which in many instances are judged by the outsider to be stagnant and regressive.
