Innovative Teaching In Economics and 
Strategies That Makes It Interesting

Abstract- The modern information and communication technology has made many innovations and drastic change in 
the field of teaching and learning process. In modern paradigm of learning, the role of student is more important than 
teachers. The new concept of paperless and pen less classroom is emerging as an alternative approach to the old teaching-
learning method. This paper mainly evaluates the traditional methods of teaching and highlights some strategies that 
allow a teacher to make their classroom more interactive, interesting and innovative. These strategies can also make our 
students to be engaged in a subject by plasticising it and make them permit for thinking, creativity, exploration and 
discovery. 
Keywords – Innovative, teaching-learning process, skill development, democratization, information technology, mind 
map.

NTRODUCTION
According to the Oxford Dictionary the term “innovation” means the introduction of novelties, the alteration of what 
is established, a novel practice and a change in established methods. Generally in the field of education innovate is 
to create something new which markedly deviates from traditional practices which have been followed since a long 
time to impart education in different level. Basically teaching must includes two major components sending and 
receiving information. Ultimately, a teacher tries his best to impart the knowledge as the way he understood it [1-2]. 
So, any communication methods that serve this purpose without destroying the objective could be considered as 
innovative methods of teaching. The use of innovative methods in educational institutions has the potential not only 
to improve education, but also to improve people, strengthen governance and galvanize the effort to achieve the 
human development goal for the country [2-4].
Education is a light that shows the mankind the right direction to surge. The purpose of education is not just 
making a student literate but adds rationale ere is a willingness to change, there is hope for thinking, knowledge 
ability and self sufficiency. When the progress in any field. Creativity can be developed and innovation benefits for 
both students and teachers [3-5].

The objectives of this paper are mainly- 
1. Evaluate the traditional methods of teaching and 
2. Highlight a few strategies that makes teaching Economics more interesting.

There are different methods of teaching procedures in Economics. Here some of the traditional and innovative 
methods of teaching are critically examined and evaluated.

Traditional teaching method was a teacher centred method which focused on rote learning and memorisation. It is 
concerned with the teacher being the controller of the learning environment. Power and responsibility are held by 
the teacher and they play the role of instructor and decision maker in regards to curriculum content and specific 
outcomes. In other words, the teacher delivers the lecture content and the students listen to the lectures. Thus, the 
learning mode tends to be passive and the learners play little part in their learning process. They regard student as
