They caress and whisper like my mother, Samarkand. Samarkand is a beautiful, ancient and elegant city, the capital of the Timurid state. The name of the world-famous historical city is controversial. There are several assumptions and hypotheses about the origin of the word "Samarkand".
Eastern authors believed that the first part of the word "Samarkand", that is, the word "Samar" was named after the person who founded or conquered the city. However, no information about a person with such a name has been found in history. Thanks to its ancient history and architectural monuments, Samarkand has become a real museum city recognized by the whole world. Therefore, by the decision of the government, in 1982, Afrosiyob city of Samarkand, architectural monuments built in the Middle Ages and buildings in the "New City" built in the 19th and 20th centuries, museums of history and local history, was named "Samarkand State United Historical-Metro". "Moryan Museum Reserve" was established. Samarkand is an ancient city in the Samarkand region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Administrative, economic and cultural center of the region (since 1938).
