The actuality of the theme is that Building global communities has for different people a differentmeaning and for some it might seem an impossible task and a dream. Intercultural communication perspectives are relative to one’s experience of intercultural communication events and encounterson a day-to-day basis. These perspectives are also fully entwined in our deeply-held beliefs and values that guide our thoughts and actionswithin and across cultural boundaries. It is, therefore a challengingtask to write about intercultural communication in a way that wouldembrace the deeply-held views from multiple cultures.
The objectof the research is competences, their types and features in teaching foreign languages.
The subject of the paper is intercultural competence and its peculiarities in teaching foreign langauges for B2 level learners.
The aim of the research work isto define significanceof intercultural competence in teaching B2 level learners at universities. To achieve our aim we have to do following tasks:

  to study intercultural competence and its consepts;
  
• 
  to what is the level of intercultural knowledge, intercultural attitude, skills and outcomes in English as Second language;
  
• 
  to provide some strategies of teaching ESL for B2 learners;
  
• 
  to provide the use of some methods;
  

The methodsused in this research are descriptive, comparative.
The theoretical valueof the research is that from the standpoint of an integrated approach, the specifics of working with materials at a foreign language lesson in a general education organization are disclosed.
The practical valueof the research is that its results can be used by educators at the older stage of teaching English in general education organizations to increase students' interest in studies, expand their horizons and increase the level of proficiency in a foreign language.
