In case of the pandemic, there are many research about tourism in Uzbekistan, they also stated that the pandemic of the COVID-19 effected badly on the economics and also tourism in Uzbekistan. In addition to these, it is stated that the decrease in the number of tourists made hotels empty.
If we look at the statistics for 2019, in 2019, 6,748,500 tourists visited Uzbekistan, and in 2018 this figure was 5,346,200. 51.3% of them are people aged 31-55 (52.1% in 2018), 20.2% - 55 years and older (19.4% in 2018), 19.5% - 19-30 years. Years (20.4% in 2018) and 9.1% - individuals aged 0-18 (8.1% in 2018). The largest number of tourists is from the Central Asian region - 5,764,500 people. 495.6 thousand Tourists came from the CIS countries. But what will this figure look like in 2020? In January-March, the number of foreign citizens who have visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes amounted to 1 million 214 thousand people. For April-June, this figure was recorded at the level of 2.1 thousand people. Compared to the same period last year, this figure has decreased by 60%. At the same time, it is noted that despite the fact that Uzbekistan stopped all air and rail services in March 2020, a decline in tourism was observed already at the end of January.
