The Menopause Group’s New Co-Leads

Lorraine Harrison

I’m delighted to be Co Leading with Jackie and continuing Bernice’s brilliant work. As one of the founding members of the Women’s Network Menopause Working Group, this is a great next step for me.

I’m based up in the North East, in the lovely Newcastle upon Tyne, where I’m a Technical Support Officer in Environment Management, supporting the North & South Land & Water Teams. Collectively the 2 teams cover the Northumberland & Tyne and Tyne & Wear catchments.
For several years I’ve been the Area’s Women’s Network Office Lead, a role I took on after being approached. It was timely as I was looking outside my then day job for opportunities to increase skill & raise my profile.
I’m hugely passionate about equality, diversity & inclusion. I’ve learnt so much in my journey with this fantastic group & passing on that knowledge to help & educate others feels instinctively the right thing to do & it’s rewarding. Winning a Civil Service Award in October 2017 was definitely a highlight in my career and a very proud moment.
I look forward to continuing this important work with you all!

Jackie Tucker

It’s been a pleasure to work with women from across the agency on a subject we are passionate about. Like Lorraine I was one of the founding members of the menopause work group and I’ve learnt a lot from being involved with this group.

I am based geographically at the complete opposite end of the country to Lorraine, I live and work in South Devon in the National Laboratory Service (Starcross).

I am the Team Leader for the Microbiology and Molecular biology team, I’m not sure if that role equips me for the co-lead of the menopause group, but I do know that volunteering for anything in the Women’s Network will enhance my day job.

Sharing knowledge and supporting people through their careers and lives is just what I want to do and I care that for some of us that is a tricky journey involving health issues and difficult conversations.

The yammer groups are a constant source of support, information and inspiration, so with your help, let’s keep this group full of comradeship, wisdom and a pinch of humour.
