Lesson Plan: Teaching Pronunciation (45 minutes)
Title: Pronunciation Practice Level: Lyceum Objective: Students will learn how to correctly pronounce English words and improve their overall speaking skills. Materials: - Whiteboard and markers - Pronunciation exercises handout - Audio clips of native English speakers pronouncing words Procedure: Introduction (5 minutes) - Greet the class and introduce the topic of pronunciation. - Ask students if they have any difficulties with pronunciation and if they feel confident speaking English. - Explain that pronunciation is important for effective communication and that this lesson will focus on improving their pronunciation skills. Warm-up activity (10 minutes) - Write a few words on the board and ask students to pronounce them. - Correct any mispronunciations and explain the correct pronunciation. - Have students practice repeating the words after you. Pronunciation exercises (20 minutes) - Hand out the pronunciation exercises handout. - Explain the different sounds in English and how to pronounce them. - Have students practice the exercises individually and then in pairs. - Walk around the class and provide feedback on their pronunciation. Audio clips (10 minutes) - Play audio clips of native English speakers pronouncing words. - Have students listen to the clips and repeat the words. - Correct any mispronunciations and explain the correct pronunciation. - Have students practice repeating the words after you. Conclusion (5 minutes) - Review the main points of the lesson. - Encourage students to continue practicing their pronunciation skills outside of class. - Thank the class and dismiss them. Assessment: - Observe students during the warm-up activity and pronunciation exercises to assess their pronunciation skills. - Provide feedback and correction during the activities to help students improve their pronunciation.
