E-Commerce
And how it differs from regular one?

4
E-Commerce
E-commerce, or electronic commerce, refers
to the buying and selling of goods and
services over the internet
It covers a wide range of business activities,
including online shopping, electronic
payments, and digital content delivery
There are several types of e-commerce
platforms and business models, including B2B
(business-to-business), B2C (business-to-
consumer), C2C (consumer-to-consumer),
and C2B (consumer-to-business)

5
Key Components of an E-commerce System
An e-commerce system consists of: website or
online store, a payment gateway, a shipping and
logistics system, and a customer relationship
management (CRM) system.
These components work together to provide a
seamless and efficient shopping experience for
customers.
In addition, e-commerce systems must be
designed with user experience in mind, with clear
navigation, intuitive interfaces, and responsive
design that works well on both desktop and
mobile devices.

6
Infrastructure and Architecture for E-commerce Systems
The infrastructure and architecture of an e-
commerce system are critical to its success.
This includes the server and hosting options used
to host the website or online store, as well as the
software and programming languages used to
build and maintain the system.
In addition, e-commerce systems must be scalable
and flexible, with the ability to handle large
volumes of traffic and transactions, as well as
adapt to changing customer needs and
preferences.

7
Security and Privacy Considerations
Security and privacy are major concerns for e-
commerce systems, as they deal with sensitive
customer information such as payment details and
personal data.
E-commerce systems must implement robust
security measures, such as encryption and secure
payment gateways, to protect against cyber
attacks and data breaches.
In addition, e-commerce systems must comply
with various laws and regulations related to data
protection and privacy, such as the General Data
Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European
Union.

8
Mobile Commerce and Emerging Technologies
Mobile commerce, or m-commerce, refers to the
buying and selling of goods and services through
mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
With the rise of mobile usage, m-commerce has
become an increasingly important part of e-
commerce systems, and businesses must ensure
that their websites and online stores are optimized
for mobile users.
Emerging technologies such as artificial
intelligence, virtual reality, and blockchain also
have the potential to transform the e-commerce
landscape, providing new opportunities for
businesses to engage with customers and
streamline their operations.
