Safety rules for handling substances that can explode and ignite spontaneously during operation.

  1. During all experiments, which may cause an explosion during the reaction, it is necessary to wear a protective mask, and the reactions are carried out in special booths or in places equipped with protective screens and shields.

  2. Strong oxidants should not be heated or simply mixed with flammable substances, as this may cause spontaneous combustion and explosion.

  3. When using oil and paraffin baths, they should be protected from water ingress, as the water under the oil will boil as a result of overheating and scatter the heated oil around. Cloths, towels, work clothes contaminated with oil, in an oxidizing environment, are prone to spontaneous combustion.

  4. When preparing a solution of sulfuric acid, the acid is poured into water, if it spills on the floor, it is neutralized with a solution of soda, it is impossible to wipe with a cloth.

Safety precautions when working with open flames and explosives.

  1. It is absolutely impossible to store flammable and especially flammable liquids near an open flame. Such substances are heated and driven by electric heaters in water or air baths. The heating and conducting parts of such baths must be well protected.

  2. Experiments with benzene, nitrobenzene, toluene, chloroform, alcohols, organic esters and other flammable and combustible substances are carried out in an open flameless suction cupboard.

  3. When heating flammable liquids with a volume of more than 0.5 liters, under the appliance, in the event of an accident, care should be taken to place empty cuvettes to prevent liquid leakage. At the end of the experiment, all dishes should be cleaned, washed and cleaned.

  4. Almost all flammable substances are volatile and can enter the human body through the air and cause harmful effects. Therefore, work with such substances is carried out in closed, suction cupboards.

  5. Flammable substances must not be discharged into the sewer. Residues of such substances are collected in a tightly closed container and poured into special wells.
