Write a Language Learning profile (500+ words) of this learner, including everything you found about her/him.

  1. Interview her/him about language learning experience

I am going to tell about language learning experience of my group mate, Temur Vaydullaev. Temur is from Samarkand where is one of the ancient cities of Uzbekistan. He is an intelligent, good motivator, full of encouragement and new ideas although he is not very good at in special field of study in university. His level is around B1 and he has an accent while he speaks in English. However, he never hesitates to speak in English with accent and even making grammar mistakes. He is some kind of self-esteemed student and works on himself and helps others as well. In one word he is a good student.

  1. Observe her/his learning habits in and out of class

I always observe him and his learning habits in both inside and outside of class because I have a great interest how he handles all of his study. He uses Cognitive, Memorial-related language learning strategies in class and always memorizes what he learned and said during the lesson and works on his mistakes. As for out of class, he utilizes Compensatory strategy to learn language more effectively while he is watching movies or TED talk videos. He is an active in class and full of questions. If teacher asks “who has a question” he asks without stopping and never fear making mistakes. His learning style is like this.

  1. Share her/his learning logs from Year I

I should admit that he was not good at English in first year because he entered university with a help of army’s license that’s why he suffered lack of knowledge. He did not know even grammar and teachers told him off every lesson. However, he was very motivated and full of curiosity. He was an active and careful to lessons and tried to answer all questions teacher gave. In spite of that he had a poor vocabulary he tried to speak and explain his ideas even with action or gestures. The rest of us were not active like him although we were cleverer than him. If we think about participation he was better than us but knowledge side vice versa.

  1. Look at samples of speaking and writing(3 written papers)

I have read his three entries and faced some mistakes which he did. As for grammar mistakes while he was using present simple he missed adding –s/-es for he/she/it. In addition, he used past simple instead of present perfect in some cases of course. He overused one word and did not try to use synonyms or phrases which are equal to that word. On top of all that in some cases, he was out of topic and could not answer exactly to the questions and made some word mistakes as well. As for speaking, he made a lot pauses while he was speaking and he spoke without emotions. He mispronounced some words. For instance, he pronounced exaggerate like [ig’zaggereit] instead of [ig’zadgereit]. It is good if we compare it with his level.

  1. Analyze and give feedback to his\her writings

I have analyzed his writings and found grammatical mistakes and using the same word over and over. Furthermore, he did not use complex structures only used simple sentence structure. He should work on grammar and improve vocabulary by learning synonyms, phrases or idioms in order to avoid repeating one word again and again. He should also use relative clauses, conditional sentences to give vivid and clear information. Perhaps, these are tiny but if they are done in collective level he really make progress and achieve better result than he expect I think.
