Educational:

- to enable pupils to ask and answer the question Where do you work?

- to enable pupils to talk about their relatives’ jobs.
Socio-cultural:

- to raise awareness of the ways of asking about job places.


     

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the lesson pupils will be able to ask and answer the question Where do you work?




Summary of Tasks / Actions:

Pre activity: Warm-up activity to have pupils full concentration on lesson. 'Yes/No' game

Handout: Revising exercises regarding to previous lesson as well as new one.

While activity: Matching words to learn new words

Handout: Bingo! game.

Handout: Homework question exercise.

Warm-up activity. 'Yes/No' game.

One student will be choosen and asked differen question which mostly reauire 'yes/no' answer. But pupils are supposed to sat yes or no. If they bear to answer the questions as required they will be considered as a winner.
Activity 1 Sing the song.

Objectives: to warm up by singing the song; to check homework

STEP 1: Play the DVD. Ask the pupils to listen to the song and sing it.

Look at Unit 2 Lesson 1 Activity 1 for the DVD script.


STEP 2: Checking homework. Ask the pupils to mingle and ask and answer

the questions from Homework. Stop the class after 4 minutes and elicit some answers.

Activity 2 Play “Where do you work?”. 10 min
Objective: to revise jobs, job places

Prepare the cards with job places and jobs. Ask one pupil to come to your

table and take one card. The class must ask questions as in the example.

Say that first they should guess the place and then job.


Possible cards:

NB: 1) You can revise other jobs if necessary e.g. a secretary, a director, a

shop assistant, a fireman, a police officer etc.

2) It’s OK if the pupils say ‘at the school’ or ‘in the school’ as both

versions are possible. They will learn the difference between them later.
Activity 3a Read and match. 5 min

Objective: to develop reading skills



Ask the pupils to write correct answers.

Activity 3b Matching words given above with suitable pictures.


Objective: to make easier to learn new words by heart

Activity 4 Play “BINGO!"

Objective: to revise new lesson

Ask the pupils to play BINGO game.

1.Give every student a bingo card.

2.Call out the definition, word, phrase or question.

3.Students must then identify the word or picture on their bingo card and cover the space (If using slide 3 template, click on the picture to change the background color of the square).

4.If a student has all words or pictures covered diagonally, across a row or vertically in a column, they should call BINGO.

5.If a student claims they have BINGO and they are incorrect, they are disqualified from that round

Handout material will be given and explained how to do exercises related to new lesson.
