Minutes from February 13, 2012 approved with changes, motion by Jason Fross 

seconded by Shelly Kincaid

Year-Round School Info Session

15 people attended YRS meeting.

Ballots to go out in Wednesday packet 3/28/12, including pro and con commentary from 

parents, same info submitted by parents at YRS meeting.

Teachers to collect ballots w/ check-in sheet. Give to Nancy Thro by Friday (4/4). Follow 

up phone call to those who do not respond.

Jason Sutter to do a school wide automated phone call in English and Spanish.

Jason Sutter to meet with ELAC today (3/26) regarding YRS.

Jason Fross to translate pro and con papers into Spanish for Wednesday.

If ballot passes by parents then Jason Sutter will re-poll staff in the fall of 2012.

Budget

Jason Sutter provided for review the Year-to-Date Budget Report.

Approved moving $701 from Other Services to Inventoriable Supplies.  Motion by 

Jeannie Heaslet, seconded by Jason Fross, passed unanimously.

Teacher Release Budget about $7000. Used at end of year for testing and report cards. 

Last year did not use all of the budget, balance used for technology. Comment that 

current student computers in computer lab are 7 years old, may need upgrading.

The balance of the Teacher Release fund this year will be presented by Jason Sutter to 

the Site Council and then decide on allocation as a group.

Jason Fross asked if any word on the District sweeping the SIP funds due. No word so 

far according to Jason Sutter.

 Budget on Bilingual instructor, uses 7 hours per week.

Instructional materials used for intervention materials and walk-to-read.

-Westside Relays

Discussion around Westside relays need parent or high school volunteers to help coach 

the kids on the different skills of track and field.

No budget money allocated to the West Side relays. See if PTA would add to list of 

volunteer requests.

West Side relays has been viewed as a competitive event between schools, maybe the 

focus should be more informational (Suzanne Gray). 

Review rules around Westside Relays.

-Community Committee 

Jason Sutter requested to move monies from Other Services to Community Committee 

for school wide activity. With approved additional monies, total allocated to Community 

Committee would then be $1000 for the year (originally $550).

Jason Fross motioned to revise budget and move $450 to Community Committee, 

Shelly Kincaid seconded, passed unanimously.

Parent and Student Survey

Being translated by Diana Smith.

Hardcopies of both surveys in office.

Jason Sutter to speak with ELAC to get more involvement, none participated last year.

Survey opens Sunday, April 1. Open for 1 week.

Daily raffle, raffle for each grade. Total of 7 raffles per day.

Any student who submits a receipt will be eligible for 10 minutes of extra recess.

Jason Sutter will send an email announcement this week and have it listed on the front 

page of the website.

April 16th - Next Site Council meeting.

Presentation on Common Core Standards (Target 2014 for testing)

Community Committee goals for next year (may present at May meeting)

Falcon’s Nest - possibly need 2 volunteers to help a teacher (Laurel). Chris Bell hired 

to help students

Sub-nominations for Site Council. Announcement needs to be placed in Newsletter 

(Jason Sutter)

Appoint/vote on positions in May, put results in May Newsletter
