Annabelle
Annabelle is a horror film directed by John R. Leonetti. Written by Gary Dauberman, produced by Peter Safran and James Wan. The premiere of the film took place in the United States on October 3, in Russia on September 25, 2014.
In 1967, in Santa Monica, California, Dr. John Form gave his wife, Mia, a unique porcelain doll in honor of the imminent birth of their first child. Mia planned to place the doll in her future daughter's nursery.
That night, the couple hear strange noises coming from their neighbors, the Higginses, and are disturbed. Mia calls the police when she and John are attacked by strangers who have killed their neighbors. The police arrive and shoot the first killer, a man, who dies instantly.
And the female killer, holding a porcelain doll in her hand, runs to the kindergarten and commits suicide there by slitting her throat. The message identifies the attackers as Higgins' daughter Annabel and her boyfriend
In the following days, a series of strange events happen in their house.
Mia then gives birth to a healthy baby girl, Leah.
The family rents an apartment in Pasadena, and when Annabel discovers in one of Annabel's boxes a doll that John left behind after his previous attack, Mia and her daughter experience another horrific event.
The next night, Mia is haunted in her apartment by an evil creature she thinks is Annabel's ghost.
Mia soon encounters a mysterious figure in the basement of her apartment building, who starts stalking Mia.
Mia enlists Detective Clarkin to get information about Annabel. The woman learns that Annabel summons supernatural beings on purpose. With the help of bookstore clerk Evelyn, Mia realizes that she is a devil worshiper and summons a demon that follows the family after they move in to take someone's soul. Back home, Mia and Leah are attacked by a demon who pretends to be manipulating a doll.
Mia and John contact the parish priest, Father Perez, who tells them that demons sometimes possess inanimate objects to achieve their goals, and that a human soul must be offered to possess the demon. Desperate to exorcise the doll, Father Perez takes it to the Warrens to examine it. But before she can enter the church, a demon representing Annabella's spirit attacks her and takes the doll away.
The priest is admitted to the hospital. The next day, when John visits the hospital, Father Perez warns him that he senses the power of the creature and realizes that the demon's real purpose is to take Mia's soul.
On the night Evelyn visits Mia, a demon uses the physical form of Perez's father to break into the apartment, kidnap Leah, and force her mother's life in exchange.
Mia tries to jump out of the window with the doll to save her daughter, but John and Evelyn manage to stop her in time.
Evelyn decides to take her own life for the car accident that killed her daughter Ruby a few years ago.
After the shapes merge, the demon and the doll disappear and Leah returns.
Six months later, a woman buys a doll at an antique shop as a gift for her daughter, Debbie, one of the nurses shown at the beginning of the film.
