Mikhail Lermontov

Tarkhany estate where Mikhail Lermontov lived
The childhood and youth of the future classic took place in Tarkhany, a rich estate located in the Penza province. For her beloved Michel, the grandmother hired French teachers who taught the boy the language. This was a former officer of the Napoleonic army Cape, whose place was later taken by the emigrant Shandro. Then the Englishman Vindzon became Michel's teacher, who not only taught him the language, but also introduced him to the English classics. It was this man who awakened the creative abilities of a teenager.
In addition to foreign teachers, the boy was greatly influenced by the observation of the life of the peasants, oral folk art. He grew up among people who, during work and holidays, often sang secluded songs, told each other legends about their defenders - Razin and Pugachev. His first trip to the Caucasus took place in 1825. Grandmother went there with her grandson for health purposes. Beautiful mountain landscapes shook the soul of a ten-year-old boy. He fell in love with the Caucasus forever, considered it the best place to live. In Goryachevodsk, the boy experienced the feeling of falling in love for the first time. Two years later, he dedicated a poem to "To Genius" to his Muse.
POETRY
When her grandson was fourteen years old, his grandmother enrolled him in the 4th grade of a Moscow university boarding school. In December, he moved to the 5th grade, following the results of his studies he was awarded a book and a picture. According to the poet himself, it was in this year that he began to engage in creativity. Almanac "Morning Dawn" 1841.
At the boarding school, the teenager was engaged in compiling handwritten journals. He was the chief contributor to one of these magazines, called Morning Dawn. Here was placed the first work of the young writer, which he called "Indian". Michel studied at the boarding house for two years, after his transformation into a gymnasium, the poet dropped out of school. The young man spent the summer at the Stolypin estate near Moscow. Not far from their estate lived the Vereshchagin family, relatives of the poet. Alexandra Vereshchagina, with whom Michel was on friendly terms, introduced the young man to her friend, Ekaterina Sushkova. The poet immediately fell in love with the black-eyed beauty, but his love remained unanswered. Accustomed to receiving all the blessings of life on demand, the young man suffered greatly. A clumsy, homely boy with a bad temper did not at all attract Katya, and she laughed good-naturedly at him. After it turned out that lermontov holded a deep respondence, and his revenge to the black-eyed beauty will be incomparable in comparison with her good describe. Five years later, when the beauty is already engaged, Michelle will realize her idea. By then, the short, ugly young man will look very different. He will become almost handsome, will acquire a strange power over women's hearts, and will skillfully and very ruthlessly use this. Having met with Catherine after a long separation, Mikhail did everything to make someone else's bride fall in love with him. When the wish came true, Lermontov compromised the girl, using a dirty slander for this. Sushkova's wedding was upset, the young lady recovered for a long time from the deceit of the man whom she sincerely fell in love with. In 1830 Michel became a student at Moscow University. He studied at the moral and political department, then at the verbal department. At the same time as the poet, Belinsky, Herzen, Ogarev received their education here, but he did not communicate with these students. Within the walls of Moscow University, Lermontov never managed to find comrades. He did not take any part in student life, never participated in heated debates. For the arrogant young man, there were no authorities among the teachers either. At the end of the second year, during the rehearsal of exams in numismatics, rhetoric and heraldry, the teachers discovered that this student was a very well-read person. However, in the basic knowledge that teachers gave to students in lectures, he had a significant gap. When the teachers found this out, Lermontov began to argue with them. As a result, he received a well-founded recommendation - to leave the university, since it seemed to the professors that they simply could not teach this student anything. Michel categorically refused to stay for re-training. Together with his grandmother, the unfortunate student moves to St. Petersburg. Two years of study at Moscow University were not counted here. Offended, Lermontov decided to continue his studies at the school of guards ensigns and cavalry cadets. He studied here for two years and suffered greatly because of the inability to engage in creativity. In the northern capital, Lermontov became the soul of the company, he reveled along with his peers, drove the high society ladies crazy. The witty and well-read young man enjoyed great success, but his sarcasm often seemed superfluous to his comrades. The poet's friends admire his literary works, but Lermontov is in no hurry to publish them. In 1835, his story "Khadzhi Abrek" appeared in print. But this was not done by the writer himself, but by his comrade, who, without the consent of Mikhail Yuryevich, took the work to the publishing house. Readers, critics very warmly accept his poems and poems. The poem "Sail", first published in "Notes of the Fatherland", Lermontov wrote when he was only 18 years old. This beautiful, short poem clearly shows what kind of life the poet himself aspires to. In the poems “Dagger”, “Duma”, “Poet”, the young writer proclaims the ideals of civil poetry. In "Borodino" and "Motherland" readers saw a Russian person, the national character is clearly outlined here. A great resonance in society was caused by the "Song about Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich ...". An appeal to Russian history, an epic meter, bright heroes - the readers simply could not believe that such a young man wrote this poem.
